In this fictional source, SKU LUM-01 has a net product weight of 2.4 kg and a packaged weight of 3.1 kg. Those convert to 2,400 g and 3,100 g respectively. The figures describe different things; do not average them or select the larger value because it looks safer.
| Statement | Converted value | Review question |
|---|---|---|
| Net product: 2.4 kg | 2400 g | Does the target field require product weight? |
| Packaged: 3.1 kg | 3100 g | Is packaging part of the required measurement? |
Check the intended field.
Shopify describes its weight-value column in grams and documents the weight used for a product or variant. Confirm the merchant’s intended shipping setup and the exact source basis; the source label should remain visible beside the repair.
Specstead supports whole-gram replacements in recognized existing weight columns. It keeps the source quote and supported unit conversion with the proposal. It does not configure shipping profiles, verify carrier charges, or measure the physical product.
Keep uncertain measurements out of the accepted repair.
A sheet saying only “weight 3.1” lacks enough context to establish the unit and measurement basis. Obtain a precise item-level record rather than inferring from another SKU.
Review the accepted grams against a fresh post-import export. The included file recheck can compare the supplied snapshots; it cannot establish that the physical or carrier measurement is correct.
Inspect an example, then check your own family.
Download the fictional catalogs, exact-item records and expected reviews. The preliminary fit checker helps separate a supported repair from a task that needs another workflow.
The free preflight checks whether your CSV fits Specstead’s supported scope. It does not change your file or store. Source-backed proposals and customer decisions follow in a private workspace.
